Gaza Artists Paint Mural Honoring Aid Flotilla, Protest Blockade

(MENAFN) In Gaza City’s seaport area, artists have created a large mural overlooking the shoreline, using visual symbolism to express solidarity with a humanitarian maritime mission and to protest the ongoing blockade, according to reports.

As stated by reports, the artwork was completed on Sunday and portrays scenes and symbols associated with international support efforts, including flags of several countries such as Türkiye, alongside depictions of ships navigating open waters. The mural is presented by its creators as both an artistic expression and a public statement against isolation and hardship.

According to general accounts, the piece reflects support for the Global Sumud Flotilla and condemns a reported attack on its vessels during an international humanitarian mission.

The flotilla, which set sail from Sicily on April 26 as part of what was described as a renewed attempt to break the blockade and deliver aid, faced an interception at sea, with boats reportedly targeted while in international waters near Crete.

As stated by reports, this was the second attempt by the initiative, following a previous mission in 2025 that also ended with interception and the detention of participants before their deportation.

Palestinian artist Aya Juha said the mural serves as a visual record of events in Gaza and expresses opposition to ongoing violence and restrictions affecting the territory. She described it as documenting what she characterized as destruction, displacement, and attacks on humanitarian efforts.
