Final call for artist participation in 30th annual Art in the Arboretum
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The deadline for interested artists to participate in the 30th annual Art in the Arboretum is rapidly approaching. Registration is open through August 17 at the regular price of $35. Late registration will run August 18-31 at a rate of $45. Information on how to sign up can be found at myarb.org.
Art in the Arboretum will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11 at the New Hanover County Arboretum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Approximately 80 artists working in a variety of mediums will offer their artwork in this highly visible juried art show.
“After 30 years, it is more than an art show, it is a tradition,” said Roben Jarrett from the NHC Cooperative Extension. She has helped coordinate this event since 2014. “I look forward to seeing many returning artists and hope to meet many new artists as well this year. I encourage everyone to mark their calendars because they don’t want to miss out on this fun family event.”
The show will be against the backdrop of the scenic New Hanover County Arboretum and is hosted by Friends of the NHC Arboretum in collaboration with NHC Cooperative Extension. Returning show sponsors include The Arts Council of Wilmington and NHC and Wilmington Arts Association, each of which continue to provide crucial support to make the event possible.
In addition to the show, Art in the Arboretum also celebrates youth art, with young artists from Dreams and Kids Making It on site, while NHC 4-H Youth Development will host a hands-on activity for young and budding artists.
Renowned Wilmington food truck 2 Bros Coastal Cuisine will also be at the gardens selling food for visitors.
